ABOUT W.H.S.

Principal's Welcome

We understand the concerns of parents following last year's rather tumultuous year that resulted in far too many hospital visits, fights, and other horrible things. Please know that the safety of our students is the most important thing to myself, as the new principal, and to the staff under my watch.

This year will see a number of changes to both improve the learning environment of our students, and also to keep them safe. First and foremost, suspension will take place on campus. What is the point of sending students home to have a nice day? Instead, students that find themselves suspended will be kept in individual cubicles to work on their classwork during the day. This will keep the students from socializing, and really stick home the idea of suspension.

Another thing will be the security guards on campus. One will be located at every school entrance in order to deter and prevent skipping, and also to protect the students should a threat or a fight break out.

I hope that with these changes being implemented, you will still consider Westbrook as a safe place to send your children. My own children attend Westbrook, and I know that their safety is of the upmost importance to me.

Sincerely,

Our Vision

To help fuel the creativity of our students and to help them prepare themselves for all that life has to offer as they grow. We provide a safe learning environment with teachers that are dedicated to making sure that each student is succeeding to the best of their abilities.

Our History

Westbrook was founded back in 1915 when the first families arrived, looking for a safe place to raise their families. The little town was originally founded on fishing in the ocean and shipping goods, but quickly the little seaport town grew into a busy city.

At first, students were taught in an old fishing shack but as the town and the student body grew, it was decided that a real school would need to be built. By 1943, Westbrook High had been built, and this has been the place of learning for every decade afterwards.
